Every few years, the world recoils in collective horror when yet another scandal peels back the curtain on the machinery of control that operates behind the polished surface of civilisation. The Epstein saga was one such moment, but it was hardly the first, and it will certainly not be the last. From ancient empires built on conquest and subjugation to modern networks of exploitation hidden in plain sight, the pattern repeats itself with an almost mechanical reliability. The natural question arises: why? If there is a Creator, if there is an intelligent design behind this universe, why would such darkness be woven into the very fabric of existence? The answer, according to some of the most profound channelled material ever recorded, is far more nuanced and far more breathtaking than most people would expect.
The Ra Material, also known as the Law of One, is a series of channelled sessions conducted in the early 1980s that presents a cosmology of staggering depth. Within that framework, the existence of what we call “evil” is not some cosmic accident or the result of a flawed creation. It is a deliberate feature of the design, placed here to serve a purpose so vast that our third density minds can barely begin to grasp its full implications. To understand why, we need to start with the most fundamental principle in all of creation: Free Will.
Ra describes Free Will as the First Distortion of the Law of One. It is the original and primary principle from which all else flows. The infinite Creator, in its desire to know itself through an infinite variety of experiences, grants total freedom of choice to every fragment of consciousness within its creation. This is not a partial freedom or a conditional one. It is absolute. And this absoluteness is precisely what makes “evil” possible. Without the genuine freedom to choose separation, selfishness, domination, and control, there would be no real choice at all. There would only be a single predetermined path of love and light, which sounds pleasant on the surface but which, as we shall see, produces a profoundly limited experience for the Creator seeking to know itself.
This brings us to what the Ra Material describes as the failure of the original “Edenic” state. In the early stages of this particular octave of creation, many of the Logoi, the great creative intelligences responsible for designing galactic systems and the conditions of incarnation within them, did not incorporate what Ra calls the “veiling process.” In these earlier designs, there was no possibility of choosing a service to self path. Entities existed in a state of constant, gentle awareness of their unity with the Creator and with one another. There was no conflict, no competition, no darkness to push against. And the result, according to Ra, was that spiritual evolution proceeded at an agonisingly slow pace. Ra uses the memorable comparison of a turtle versus a cheetah to illustrate the difference. Those early experiences of creation were described as “pallid” and “monochrome,” lacking the vivid intensity that comes from genuine struggle and genuine choice. In an environment of perpetual contentment, there was simply no impetus to move, to grow, to learn, or to transform. The Creator’s experience of itself through these early designs was, to put it bluntly, boring.
The solution was the introduction of polarity, specifically the mechanism of what Ra calls “The Choice.” This is the pivotal moment in every soul’s third density experience, the point at which a being consciously or unconsciously commits to one of two paths: service to others, which is the path of unity, compassion, and love, or service to self, which is the path of separation, control, and the consolidation of power. The genius of this design lies in the fact that both paths generate intense polarisation, and it is this polarisation that allows real “work” to be done in consciousness. Think of it like the positive and negative poles of a battery. Without both poles, no current flows. Without both the light and the dark, no spiritual electricity is generated. The potential difference between these two orientations is what powers the engine of evolution in this density.
The key mechanism that made this polarity truly effective was the introduction of the veil of forgetting. Before the veil was implemented, all entities were aware, at least to some degree, that they were the Creator. They could see the unity behind the apparent multiplicity. In that state of awareness, there was no motivation to control or dominate others, because doing so would be obviously absurd, like your left hand trying to enslave your right. The veil changed everything. By introducing a barrier between the conscious and unconscious minds, it created the illusion of separation. Suddenly, entities could genuinely believe themselves to be isolated individuals, separate from and potentially in competition with all other beings. This illusion is what Ra refers to as “that which is not.” The service to self path is essentially the exploration of this grand illusion, the investigation of what happens when a fragment of the Creator plunges so deeply into the experience of separation that it forgets its own origin entirely.
And this is where the Epsteins of the world fit into the picture. The networks of control, the systems of exploitation, the hierarchies of domination that run through human civilisation like dark threads in a tapestry are all manifestations of the service to self path being pursued by entities who have chosen, consciously or unconsciously, to polarise in the negative direction. Ra speaks of a confederation of negatively polarised entities in higher densities who actively work to influence third density worlds like ours toward greater control, fear, and enslavement. Their method is not typically one of direct intervention but rather of amplifying and supporting the tendencies toward domination that already exist within the human population. They offer power to those who seek it, and in doing so, they increase their own negative polarity while simultaneously providing catalyst for the rest of us.
Here is the part that is hardest for most people to accept: from the perspective of the Law of One, even these horrific actions serve the Creator. This is not a justification of evil, and it is certainly not a reason to be passive in the face of injustice. It is simply a recognition that within the grand architecture of creation, every experience, no matter how dark, contributes to the Creator’s self knowledge. The negatively polarised entity gains polarity through its acts of control and domination. But the positively polarised entity also gains polarity, often even more effectively, by choosing love, acceptance, and forgiveness in the face of that very darkness. The two paths are locked in a kind of cosmic dance, each intensifying the other, each driving the engine of evolution forward with greater force than either could achieve alone.
Consider what happens when a person encounters genuine evil in their life, whether in the form of abuse, betrayal, systemic oppression, or any of the countless ways that the service to self orientation manifests in this world. That encounter becomes what Ra calls a “catalyst,” a raw experience that demands a response. The entity can respond with hatred, fear, and the desire for revenge, thereby beginning to polarise negatively themselves. Or they can respond with compassion, with the recognition that even the perpetrator is a distorted expression of the one Creator, and with the determination to transform that pain into wisdom and love. This latter response is extraordinarily difficult, which is precisely the point. It is in the crucible of that difficulty that the most profound spiritual growth occurs.
Ra refers to the negative path as the “loyal opposition.” This is a remarkable phrase because it acknowledges that the forces of darkness play a necessary role in the Creator’s design. They ensure that the choice between service to others and service to self remains genuinely difficult, genuinely meaningful, and genuinely transformative. If the choice were easy, if the darkness were not convincing, if the systems of control were not sophisticated and deeply embedded, then choosing the path of love would carry no real weight. It would be like choosing to breathe. The presence of powerful, intelligent, and deeply committed negative entities ensures that every soul who chooses love does so with full awareness of the alternative, and that choice carries a charge of spiritual significance that reverberates through all of creation.
This is why systems of control will always be part of this particular reality. Third density, the density of choice, is specifically designed to be a place where both paths are viable, where both light and darkness have genuine power, and where the choice between them is the most important decision a soul can make. The discomfort we feel when confronted with the darkness of the world, that visceral revulsion at injustice and cruelty, is itself a form of catalyst. It is the universe asking us: what will you choose? Will you respond to darkness with more darkness, or will you find within yourself the capacity to transmute that pain into something luminous?
None of this means we should be passive in the face of evil. Quite the opposite. The positive path is not one of complacent acceptance but of active, engaged love. Standing against injustice, protecting the vulnerable, working to dismantle systems of exploitation, these are all expressions of service to others that generate powerful positive polarisation. The point is not to pretend that darkness does not exist or to wish it away, but to understand its role within the larger design and to engage with it from a place of spiritual clarity rather than blind reactivity.
The world as it exists, with all its beauty and all its horror, is what Ra describes as a “stunning mystery.” It is a puzzle designed by the Creator for the Creator, a labyrinth of light and shadow through which every soul must find its own way. The Epsteins, the puppet masters, the architects of control, they are all playing their part in this grand drama, often without any awareness of the larger purpose they serve. And every soul who encounters their darkness and chooses, despite everything, to respond with love, forgiveness, and the unwavering commitment to serve others, that soul is fulfilling the deepest intention of the Logos itself.
The design is not flawed. It is breathtakingly, almost unbearably, perfect. The darkness is not an error in the code. It is the code. It is the contrast that makes the light visible, the resistance that makes the muscle grow, the question that makes the answer meaningful. And every time we stand in the face of that darkness and choose to love anyway, we are doing exactly what we came here to do. We are giving the Creator the one thing it cannot have without us: the experience of knowing itself through the most vivid, intense, and courageous expression of free will that this density can offer.
That is why this world was designed the way it was. That is why the darkness will not be eradicated from this level of existence. And that is why your response to it, your choice in the face of it, matters more than you could possibly know.
