What Atlantis Got Wrong: Dolores Cannon on the Line We Are Crossing Again

Most of us were taught a tidy version of the past. Humans started with stone tools, learned to farm, built cities, and climbed steadily toward smartphones and space stations. Dolores Cannon spent more than four decades listening to people in deep trance, and the story they told her was far less tidy. Again and again, clients with no interest in the occult described a time when humanity had already risen very high, understood energy and matter in ways we are only beginning to grasp, and then lost almost everything.

That civilization, in her clients’ accounts, was Atlantis. And the reason it fell, she came to believe, was not bad luck or a random earthquake. It broke a fundamental law of nature. Her warning, repeated in lectures and books toward the end of her life, was that we are walking up to the very same line.

Whether you read her work as literal history, as a collective dream, or as a parable written by the deeper mind, the lesson she drew from it deserves a serious look.

Why Regression Became Cannon’s Window on Atlantis

Cannon developed what became known as the Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique, a method designed to take clients into the deepest level of trance, where ordinary memory gives way to what she called the subconscious or higher self. In that state, people described past lives, other worlds, and ancient places in surprising detail.

What struck her was the consistency. Different people, in different decades and countries, described an Atlantis that looked nothing like the marble temples of popular imagination. Their Atlantis ran on crystals rather than fuel. Its people used the mind to move objects. Its scientists worked with the building blocks of life itself. The first written account of the island, Plato’s dialogue Critias, already frames Atlantis as a great power that slid into arrogance and decline. Cannon’s clients filled in what that decline actually looked like.

The Creatures Our Myths Never Forgot

Ancient Greek stories are crowded with blended beings. There is the centaur, part man and part horse. There is the Minotaur, a bull-headed man locked in a labyrinth on Crete. Scholars usually treat these as symbols or as exaggerated memories of bull-leaping rituals.

Cannon offered a darker reading. According to material that surfaced in her sessions, these creatures were folk memories of something that really happened. As Atlantean science matured, a ruling class grew restless and hungry for control. Researchers began combining human and animal bodies to produce workers, servants and fighters who would obey without question.

One client, recalling an early stage of this program, described crude surgery before genetic techniques were refined: animal limbs attached to human bodies. Later, the work moved down to the level of cells. Either way, the purpose was the same. Life was being reshaped into tools.

In the cosmology Cannon pieced together, every lineage of life follows its own evolutionary path, and a soul enters a body suited to its development. Forcing species together to build a servant class was not just cruel. It trapped consciousness in forms that did not fit it, and it violated something sacred about how life is meant to unfold.

From Myth to the Modern Lab

Here is where Cannon’s warning lands close to home, because science today genuinely works at the boundary between species.

There are two separate lines of research worth understanding clearly. The first is interspecies chimeras. In 2017, a team at the Salk Institute reported that they had placed human stem cells into early pig embryos and let them develop for several weeks. Human cells survived only at very low levels, and the embryos were not allowed to go to term, but the long-term goal is openly stated: one day growing human organs inside animals.

The second is xenotransplantation, which uses organs from pigs that have been gene-edited to make them more acceptable to the human body. In January 2022, surgeons at the University of Maryland gave a dying man a heart from a genetically modified pig. That pig carried ten edits: four pig genes switched off and six human genes added to help the heart avoid rejection. He lived for about two months.

It is worth being precise. These organs are not grown from human cells. They are pig organs, carefully altered at the genetic level so the human immune system does not destroy them on contact. That distinction matters, but it does not erase the philosophical question Cannon raised. Both lines of work treat the boundary between species as an engineering problem to be solved.

The Concern Scientists Share

Cannon’s spirit guides were not the only ones uneasy. Mainstream researchers have their own version of the worry, and it centers on viruses.

Every pig genome carries ancient viral sequences called porcine endogenous retroviruses. In the lab, these have been shown to infect human cells, which is why the company eGenesis went to the length of inactivating them across its donor pigs, part of a staggering 69 genetic edits in a single animal. In the Maryland heart case, traces of a different pig virus were later found in the transplanted organ.

So far there is no documented case of a pig retrovirus spreading to people through these procedures. Still, the fear that Cannon described from her lectures, that placing living animal tissue in constant contact with human blood could open a door for a disease that leaps between species, is not a fringe idea. It is one of the central safety questions in the field. Her sessions simply framed it as a spiritual question too: what happens to a civilization that sees living beings only as raw material?

Crystals, Power and a Divided Priesthood

Biology was only half of the Atlantean story. The other half was energy.

In Cannon’s accounts, Atlantis drew its power from stone and quartz, conducting enormous currents through networks of crystals. In the early days this was a gentle science, closely tied to spiritual practice. Over time, ambition took over. Towers were built to push the crystals far beyond safe limits, and the excess energy damaged the planet’s protective layers, scorching land that later became desert.

One of the most vivid sessions involved a client who remembered belonging to a group of spiritual guardians. Their work was to keep the planet stable by directing calm, harmonious energy into the crystal network. Opposing them was a faction that wanted the same grid for war and domination. When the two forces met, the clash of frequencies created a destructive shock that ripped through the land and helped trigger the final collapse.

This picture of a priesthood split between service and control echoes the readings of Edgar Cayce, who described a long struggle between followers of the Law of One and the self-serving Sons of Belial, and spoke of a great crystal energy source in Atlantis that was eventually turned toward destruction.

The Bermuda Triangle Question

Cannon tied one modern mystery directly to this lost technology. She taught that the Bermuda Triangle sits over the remains of a major Atlantean temple that housed equipment for moving through time and between dimensions. When the land sank, the machinery was damaged but never fully shut down, and it still sends out bursts of energy that can pull ships and aircraft out of our reality.

It is only fair to note the other side. The US government’s own ocean agency states plainly that there is no evidence disappearances happen more often there than in any other busy stretch of ocean, and points to storms, the Gulf Stream and shallow reefs as likely causes. Readers can hold both views in mind. For Cannon, the Triangle mattered less as a place to fear and more as a reminder that power misused does not simply vanish.

Going With Nature: The Essene Thread

One of the clearest statements of the law Atlantis broke comes from an unexpected source. In Jesus and the Essenes, Cannon regressed a client who remembered life as a teacher in the Qumran community. He spoke of the Kaloo, a people who had come from a lost homeland and passed their knowledge down to the Essenes.

His explanation was simple. Anyone working with the forces of energy has to move with nature, never against it. Push against the natural order and something else is thrown out of balance, with harmful results. The Atlanteans kept taking from the earth without giving back, and eventually the earth withdrew its power. That withdrawal was the catastrophe.

It is a principle almost every spiritual tradition shares in some form, from the Tao to indigenous teachings about reciprocity with the land. What makes Cannon’s version striking is that it presents the fall of Atlantis not as divine punishment but as cause and effect.

The Fuse That Blows

Cannon described a kind of planetary safety switch. When a species gains enormous intellectual and technical power without the spiritual maturity to handle it, the consequences ripple outward, potentially affecting more than one world. Rather than let that happen, higher intelligences step in and reset things. She compared it to blowing a fuse.

In this view, the sinking of Atlantis buried its most dangerous tools beneath the sea and sent survivors back to a simpler life to try again. Those who saw the end coming left in time. Cannon’s clients described them sailing toward Egypt and sealing records, crystals and knowledge in chambers beneath the Sphinx and the pyramids, to be opened only when humanity was ready. Cayce’s readings describe a similar Hall of Records hidden near the Sphinx, which shows how often this theme has surfaced through very different channels.

The New Earth and the Choice in Front of Us

If the story ended there, it would be a grim loop: rise, overreach, collapse, repeat. Cannon did not believe it ends there.

In her later work, especially The Three Waves of Volunteers and the New Earth, she described Earth as a living being that is raising its own frequency after a long history of exploitation, nuclear testing and environmental damage. This time, she taught, there would be no wholesale wipeout. Instead there would be a separation, with people drawn toward the frequency that matches their own consciousness. Those who cling to greed, domination and manipulation would find the higher vibration harder to reach.

She also reported that from the early 2000s many of her clients described physical sensations they connected with this shift, such as dizziness, ringing in the ears, palpitations and deep fatigue. If you experience symptoms like these, please see a doctor first. Spiritual meaning and good medical care are not in competition, and ruling out a physical cause is part of looking after the body you were given.

Choosing a Different Ending

The value of Cannon’s Atlantis material does not depend on proving it in a laboratory. Its real power is as a mirror. A civilization becomes brilliant, grows bored with its own mastery, and begins treating life and the planet as resources to be bent to its will. That pattern is easy to recognize today.

Her central message was that the outcome is not fixed. We have free will. We can ask harder questions about the research we fund and the energy we consume. We can treat animals and the living world with reverence rather than as inventory. And on a personal level, we can do the quieter work of raising our own awareness, choosing cooperation over control, one decision at a time.

Atlantis, in Cannon’s telling, never got that second chance. We are being offered one now.
