We saw Ms. Rena at ASB for almost a year for my 2 year old's speech delay. We went once a week and my child had no issues bonding, interacting with Ms. Rena or Margaret if Ms. Rena was not available. They are good people who care about your child's speech delay and will work with you from various perspectives to help your child overcome his difficulty. During our year long speech therapy session, we faced barriers with insurance, consult with an specialized speech expert, and eventually a referral for my child to work with someone whom my child who specializes in the type of speech therapy he needs. Ms. Rena is persistent, honest, and she cares about your child's success. She is humble to share when things are not progressing as we/adults would like, about consulting or reaching out to other resources within her SLP community about finding the right therapy for him. My child is 3 years old now and with help of a therapist whom she referred us to, he is starting to make some noticeable progress. I would highly recommend ASB as Ms. Rena and Margaret truly cares about your child's success and are willing to work with you for what can seem extremely frustrating, like insurance.

Ms. Rena was able to connect with my 5-year-old daughter and keep her engaged in sessions -- and motivated to practice between sessions. I've observed significant progress in my daughter's speech, which means better communication (and less frustration) for our family. Family and friends are also commenting that she's easier to understand. My daughter starts kindergarten next week, and I'm grateful that our time at A Sound Beginning will help set her up for success in school. To say that finding Margaret at A Sound Beginning has changed our lives would be an understatement. But to be honest to find the right words to describe the impact, Margaret has had on our daughters life is hard for me because it has been such an emotional journey. Starting with our daughter not being able to hear anything properly with her cochlear implants nine years ago to today where we have a healthy, happy, smart daughter who is fully integrated into public school and listening and speaking like a champion and we could not have done it without Margaret by her side! Margaret advocates for the children under her care as if they were her own children.
