What a beautiful experience! I found myself looking for a little self-care on a cold Saturday morning, and came upon an event page for the Sonic Healing Theatre in Brewer. I had never heard of it, but after reading the description I knew it would be a great way to spend my morning. The big, white house with all the wind chimes and whirligigs is hard to miss. Immediately upon entering the space, you are met with an array of sensory stimulators, from wooden textiles, to plants, to colorful artwork; the space is a delight to the senses. The theatre is impressive today the least. Moody lighting streams from the ceiling illuminating the three massive gongs which are the centerpiece, and star of the show. The beds are wired for sound, meaning that when Dan strikes the gongs, the beds vibrate with the intensity of the energy frequency and in turn, is felt with deep resonance throughout the body. It is a very immersive experience. I recommend bringing a blanket and pillow, or if you’re staying for the sauna, use your folded towel under your head/neck. I stayed for the body movement class which was very helpful in identifying where there may be imbalances in your body. To round out the experience, I changed into a bathing suit and made my way downstairs to the sauna which is kept at around 209 degrees. It was beautifully done, with a common area to rest at a comfortable temperature if need be. The cold plunge pool was also impressive, and felt invigorating after the sauna. I highly recommend a visit to the Sonic Healing Theatre, and I will return. What a hidden gem for the Bangor/Brewer area!

Amazing! The sounds that are created in the theatre are exquisite, at the end of the hour you are in an incredible state of relaxation. Sauna was wonderful, and the cold plunge did the trick. Highly recommend!

Amazing facility. Sound healing will take you to a meditative state with the vibration beds adding an incredible sensory element. Add on snacks in a beautiful kitchen, and alternate between the 200 degree steam sauna and refreshing cold plunge for the ultimate contrast experience.
